Parade Day

Scranton Parade Day – The Electric City’s Biggest Celebration

Scranton’s Parade Day is one of the largest and most anticipated St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Pennsylvania — and the biggest event of the year in the Electric City. Held each March in downtown Scranton, the parade brings together tens of thousands of locals and visitors to celebrate Irish heritage, community pride, and the unofficial start of spring in NEPA.

The day kicks off with early-morning gatherings at local bars, restaurants, and homes across neighborhoods like Green Ridge, South Side, and West Side before the main event takes over downtown. The parade marches along Lackawanna Avenue featuring marching bands, Irish dance schools, community organizations, local businesses, first responders, and regional leaders. Bagpipes echo through the city streets as crowds dressed head-to-toe in green pack sidewalks and rooftops.

More than just a parade, it’s a full-day tradition — part family-friendly community event, part Scranton's version of Mardi Gras. For many locals, it’s a yearly reunion and a badge of Scranton pride.

Whether you're lining the parade route, hopping between your favorite downtown spots, or hosting friends before heading out, Parade Day is about celebrating Scranton — loud, proud, and a little bit Irish.

This year's Parade Day is Saturday, March 14th, at 11:45 AM. For more details, including the parade route, please visit the official website here. Slàinte!
